Norway has launched a forward-looking strategy that positions Brazil as its most important investment partner outside of Europe and the United States. With more than 230 Norwegian companies already operating in the country, the new strategy outlines a clear path for expanding economic ties—especially in energy, maritime, seafood, and green technology sectors.

Brazil’s vast natural resources, growing demand for renewable energy, and focus on sustainability align closely with Norway’s industrial strengths.
The strategy highlights significant opportunities in offshore oil and gas, wind and solar power, and carbon capture and storage—areas where Norwegian companies are global leaders.
It also opens the door for expanded seafood exports, particularly salmon and herring, supported by new health certification agreements.
To enhance the business climate, the strategy underscores improved bilateral frameworks, including a new tax treaty that takes effect in 2025 and ongoing EFTA–Mercosur trade agreement negotiations.
These developments promise greater predictability, reduced barriers, and stronger protections for Norwegian investors.
Sustainability and responsible business conduct are central to the strategy. Norway encourages its companies to operate in accordance with international standards, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. At the same time, the strategy supports innovation, digital infrastructure, and partnerships for the green transition—creating fertile ground for long-term, impact-driven investments.

With this renewed commitment, Norway and Brazil are charting a joint course for sustainable growth, technological innovation, and resilient trade relations. For investors, Brazil is not just a key market—it’s a strategic destination for building the future.
