June 3 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm CEST
Zé Ibarra comes to Cosmopolite on June 3 with AFIM – his second solo album and a clear new chapter in his career.
On AFIM, Zé Ibarra moves away from the close, acoustic guitar expression and into a more complex and physical soundscape. Here, MPB, jazz, pop and progressive elements meet in music that is more direct, more visual and more instinctive. The album contains both his own compositions and new interpretations of Brazilian songwriters, and appears as a meeting between Ibarra’s different musical sides – from the quiet and personal to the dense and collectively oriented.
Zé Ibarra is a central figure in the new wave of Brazilian music. He first became known as the frontman of the band Dônica, before making a strong mark as a solo artist with his debut album Marquês, 256. In 2022, he also helped establish Bala Desejo, the project that brought together some of the most prominent voices of his generation and which later won a Latin Grammy. In parallel, he has collaborated closely with key names in Brazilian music, including Milton Nascimento.
