Norway and Brazil have initiated the exchange of electronic health certificates for seafood exports, aiming to make trade between the two countries faster, safer, and more efficient. The digitalization of export documentation will simplify procedures, reduce costs, and strengthen control for both exporters and authorities.

According to Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy Marianne Sivertsen Næss, this modernization represents an important step toward more predictable and sustainable seafood trade. The announcement was made during her visit to Brazil, where she participated in the Seafood Show Latin America in São Paulo and met with Brazilian Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture André de Paula to discuss closer cooperation and enhanced bilateral trade.
The initiative follows the EFTA–Mercosur trade agreement, signed on September 16, 2025, which expands market access and reduces tariffs for Norwegian seafood. Together, these measures are expected to improve competitiveness and promote stronger trade relations between Norway and Brazil.
